Donald Trump is terrible enough by himself, but the fact that his awful children have been enmeshed in his presidency has made things even worse. Unfortunately for the president, this looks like it’s going to backfire even worse than it already has, permanently changing the family dynamics as the president has spoken about which child he would like to succeed him.
We all know that Donald Trump Jr. wants to be just like his dad. He’s developed his own annoying version of the Trump persona on Twitter and regularly comes to his father’s aid online. But no matter what Junior does, it seems as though Ivanka will always be daddy’s favorite — and that was more than obvious in a phone interview with The Atlantic‘s Elaina Plott.
During this phone call, the president ranted and raved about how Ivanka was “good with numbers” and “calm,” and spoke about how he thought she would be great for the United Nations, the World Bank, and even the Oval Office.
Trump bragged a little about all of his kids, but there was no doubt who the favorite was. Trump said:
Barron is young, but he’s got wonderful potential. And Tiffany’s doing extremely well. Don is, uh, he’s enjoying politics; actually, it’s very good. And Eric is running the business along with Don, and also very much into politics. I mean, the children — the children have been very, very good.”
What he said about Ivanka was clearly a grade above that praise, though. Trump didn’t even hesitate to say she could take over the presidency. He said:
If she ever wanted to run for president. I think she’d be very, very hard to beat.”
Interestingly enough, Junior has been trying to enter politics and even helps his father campaign, but he doesn’t seem to be on his father’s radar. Trump raved about Ivanka further:
She went into the whole helping-people-with-jobs, and I wasn’t sure that was going to be the best use of her time, but I didn’t know how successful she’d be. She’s created millions of jobs, and I had no idea she’d be that successful.”
That claim about Ivanka and jobs is false, of course, but that shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point. This interview is sure to cause an unhealthy amount of sibling rivalry in a family that was already in turmoil. Keep an eye on Junior’s Twitter account because he’s sure to be pouty today.
