Donald Trump is, once again, trying to paint himself as a victim in his government shutdown. He has done everything in his power to try to pin the whole thing on the Democrats and convince America that he is sacrificing for the good of his country when it’s actually all about his racist wall.
Yesterday as Trump toured the border and had an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the president whined about all the sacrifices he’s made in his government shutdown because he can’t get any funding for his moronic wall. Once again, he blame the Democrats. Trump said:
I don’t need this! Look, I could have done something a lot easier, I could have enjoyed myself. I haven’t left the White House because I’m waiting for [Democrats] to come over in a long time. You know that.”
During the interview, the president complained about not being able to flee to Florida and spend the holidays with his family, instead forced to work and remain in the White House. Most notably, he was upset that he didn’t get to attend his traditional New Year’s Eve party, where he was selling very expensive tickets for access to him (just one of the many ways Trump has profited off his presidency):
I stayed at the White House during Christmas, I stayed at the White House at New’s Year’s. My family, I told them: Stay in Florida and enjoy yourselves.”
Trump chalked up the Democrats’ reluctance to fund a wall that is a terrible idea to being “about politics.” He said:
It’s about the 2020 campaign. Democrats aren’t feeling too good about it.”
That’s pretty much the only thing Trump can tell himself these days to distract him from confronting the fact that he has no chance for 2020, or his border wall.
