Never in American history have we seen such unconstitutional behavior from the President of the United States. Donald Trump, who is supposed to be the embodiment of American values as POTUS, has single-handedly destroyed all respect America had for itself, and he’s only making things worse.
On Monday morning, Trump woke up on Veterans’ Day desperate to do something to prevent more Democrats from winning in the midterm election. In a pathetic attempt to prevent more GOPers from losing, Trump tweeted this instead of a message honoring our veterans:
The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!

What Trump is suggesting is for votes to stop being counted — even though almost 20,000 absentee ballots from overseas have yet to be counted. Most of those ballots belong to active duty military members and if Trump prevents more votes from being counted in Florida’s uncalled election, Trump is actively announcing that military votes should not count. On Veterans’ Day.
The Washington Post‘s Aaron Blake pointed out how horrific Trump’s logic was:
Florida accepts overseas/military ballots through Nov. 16, (provided they were postmarked by Nov. 6). The president is effectively calling for the disenfranchisement of military service-members … the day after Veteran’s Day.”
We can’t think of a bigger “f*ck you” to America’s heroes. According to the law 1S-2.030 Vote-by-Mail Ballots for Absent Stateside Uniformed Services and Overseas Voters, overseas voters have ten additional days to get their votes in. Section 4(b) reads:
Overseas voters casting ballots in a presidential preference primary or general election are allowed a 10-day extension. The ballot must be postmarked or dated no later than election day and received by the Supervisor of Elections of the county in which the voter is registered no later than 10 days after election day.
Under the law, overseas voters and active on-duty military personnel will have until November 16th to have their votes counted — and Trump wants to shut it all down. When you look at the political party breakdown, there’s a big reason for this — many of those military votes will be blue. Daniel A. Smith, Chair of the Department of Political Science at Florida University, pointed this out on Twitter:
As of this morning, there are roughly 19.8k overseas ballots out.
41% of these are Ds, 27% are Rs, and 30% are NPAs.
These overseas voters are registered in nearly every Florida county. Those with the most are DAD (3.3k), BRO (2.6k), PAL (1.6k), HIL (1.4k), ORA (1k)

What Trump is calling for is beyond unethical. On this Veterans’ Day, the president has shown his true colors and blatant disrespect of the people who serve America.
