Donald Trump cannot handle being held accountable for anything he says or does. After blatantly mocking Canada on trade in shady off-the-record comments during an interview with Bloomberg News, the president is now having a major meltdown because his insults were leaked in a report by the Toronto Star.
In his comments, Trump had bragged about how he wasn’t going to compromise on trade with Canada. The president gloated:
Here’s the problem. If I say no — the answer’s no. If I say no, then you’re going to put that, and it’s going to be so insulting they’re not going to be able to make a deal…I can’t kill these people.
Off the record, Canada’s working their ass off. And every time we have a problem with a point, I just put up a picture of a Chevrolet Impala.”
Trump had made these comments under the supposed agreement of that part of the interview being “off the record.” But now that his comments have been leaked, the president is going off on an all-out assault on the media (and cowardly trying to deny that he meant what he said). In a tweet that signals Trump is going to have a completely unhinged weekend, the president whined:
Wow, I made OFF THE RECORD COMMENTS to Bloomberg concerning Canada, and this powerful understanding was BLATANTLY VIOLATED. Oh well, just more dishonest reporting. I am used to it. At least Canada knows where I stand!”

The Toronto Star has since reported that its publication did not make an agreement with the White House to protect those comments, regardless of what Trump thinks. Once again, the president’s big mouth has gotten him in deep trouble with an ally.
