The more horrifying details we get about the way Donald Trump is running this country, the more Americans are feeling like we’re doomed until we can get him out of the White House.
A damning new report has just revealed that there is no end to the insanity and corruption going on within Trump’s leadership. Apparently, three members of Trump’s Mar-A-Lago Club have been running the Veterans Affairs Department for the last few months. Here’s the kicker — these people have never been elected, appointed, and they are not even veterans. Like most of Trump’s administration, these people have no idea what they’re doing.
This was discovered when ProPublica investigated FOIA documents, which led to the discovery that Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter, Palm Beach doctor Bruce Moskowitz, and lawyer Marc Sherman have been influencing the VA’s direction. The report says:
Hundreds of documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act and interviews with former administration officials tell a different story — of a previously unknown triumvirate that hovered over public servants without any transparency, accountability or oversight. The Mar-a-Lago Crowd spoke with VA officials daily, the documents show, reviewing all manner of policy and personnel decisions. They prodded the VA to start new programs, and officials travelled to Mar-a-Lago at taxpayer expense to hear their views. ‘Everyone has to go down and kiss the ring,’ a former administration official said.”
The trio is led by Perlmutter, who is in regular contact with Trump and was previously considered as an external advisor to the president. Along with Moskowitz and Sherman, this trio reportedly uses their power and influence to advance their own personal interests through VA policy while breaking government operating procedures. To make matters worse, they’ve staffed officials in the VA who they felt would be most likely to go along with their plans. One of those people was fired former VA Secretary David Shulkin.
In response to this report, Trump’s three golf club buddies offered a joint statement to try and downplay their involvement and influence:
At all times, we offered our help and advice on a voluntary basis, seeking nothing at all in return. While we were always willing to share our thoughts, we did not make or implement any type of policy, possess any authority over agency decisions, or direct government officials to take any actions… To the extent anyone thought our role was anything other than that, we don’t believe it was the result of anything we said or did.”
How is this even possible? One can only imagine what more horrific details will come out once we get to the bottom of Trump’s investigations.
