The damage that the Republican Party and its complete lack of ethics and empathy has done to America has just reached an all-time high. As the GOP has been known for cherry-picking religion to work in its favor and support disgusting policies, one of the ringleaders in Donald Trump’s administration has just brought God into a discussion about the worst, most hateful president the United States has ever had.
In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders actually said that God wanted Trump to be president. In the interview, Sanders said:
I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times, and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president.”

This response was reported by New York Times reporter Alan Rappeport, and Twitter went nuts. David Corn, co-author of the book Russian Roulette (which is about Trump and Russia), tweeted:
So did God want @BarackObama to be president? Or did he take off those eight years?”
Sarah Sanders on CBN: “[God] wanted Donald Trump to become president, and thats why he’s there.”
So did God want @BarackObama to be president? Or did he take off those eight years?
Did he want the House Dems and @RepAOC to win in November? Or was he napping then?

People were understandably in an uproar:
Does that mean God also wanted Nancy Pelosi to become Speaker of the House? https://t.co/C2jZQmZlw9

So Sarah Sanders thinks Putin is her god. https://t.co/Gh45q3gin4

If you think Sanders has officially gone off the deep end, this is far from the first time she’s used religion to defend her terrible boss. Last year, Sanders stated that the Trump administration’s inhuman child separation policy was “very biblical.” You can watch that interview below:
