We’re currently at a time in history when a Republican is being outed for their disgusting behavior on a daily basis. One by one, everyone in the GOP is being exposed, and today it is GOP Senate candidate Karin Housley in Minnesota.
Housley has just come under fire for her racism and attacks against former First Lady Michelle Obama, having once compared Michelle to a chimpanzee on social media. The Huffington Post reported that Housley insulted Michelle’s posture while she was at a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in 2009, first stating:
Michelle is sooooo far from cool. Don’t we expect our First Ladies to at least stand up straight? (And my dear sister, know the proper etiquette and DO NOT TOUCH THE QUEEN!)”
Shortly after that, Housley put a comment in the thread to her own post, and launched into a racist attack against Michelle:
I do miss Nancy Reagan. Ronald even more. Speaking of Bedtime for Bonzo, I think even that chimp stood up straighter than Michelle.”
Housley knew it was racist and that she’d said something inflammatory, because she acknowledged how inappropriate it was as she wrote:
Uh-oh, someone is going to make a comment.”
Housley’s campaign, of course, stated that the “chimp” reference was taken out of context, but that’s bullsh*t. Huffington Post noted that, “Comparing African-Americans to apes, even obliquely, as Housley did, has been a longstanding feature of racist American innuendo.” Campaign spokesman Jake Schneider defended Housley and said:
This is what the radical left does when they are losing–they attack Republicans so they don’t have to come up with solutions to the problems Minnesotans are facing.”
While Housley’s attack happened several years ago, it is a direct reflection of her “values” and character. People like this should not be allowed to govern, as a good portion of this country is minorities and it’s a population that is growing.
