The meetings and press conference that occurred between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have raised all sorts of speculation about what is going on between the two world leaders. Reports about closed door meetings without the presence of government aides and footage of Trump winking at Putin have also caused suspicion.
Another interesting moment that has come from these meetings has to do with the Steele dossier, concerning the allegations that the Russian Federation has footage of Trump with Russian prostitutes. This incident has become known as the “pee tapes” after it was reported that the prostitutes urinated on the video for Trump.
During the press conference with Trump, an Associated Press reporter asked Putin about the tapes, and Putin actually refused to deny it. Putin said:
Yeah, I did hear these rumors that we allegedly collected compromising material on Mr. Trump when he was visiting Moscow.”
After an awkward pause, Putin continued:
Distinguished colleague, let me tell you this, when President Trump was in Moscow back then, I didn’t even know that he was in Moscow. I treat President Trump with utmost respect, but back then when he was a private individual, a businessman, nobody informed me that he was in Moscow.”
“Let’s take St. Petersburg economic forum, for instance. There were over 500 American businessmen, high ranking, high level ones. I don’t even remember the last names of each an every one. Do you think that we try to collect compromising material on each and every single one of them? Well, it’s difficult to imagine on a bigger scale of this. Please disregard these issues and don’t think about this anymore again.”
It’s almost like Putin went out of his way to avoid denying it! To make things even more strange, Trump added this:
And I have to say if they had it, it would have been out long ago.”
