Pastor Who Prayed For Trump (As He Stood There In His Golf Clothes In Church) Apologizes

He's regretting it now!

Donald Trump recently made an unannounced stop at McLean Bible Church to “pray” for the victims of the tragic Virginia Beach shooting that left 12 dead. Though praying is quite an overstatement, considering Trump took to the stage in his golf clothes (literally, his golf hat was in his hand) and never uttered a word in regards to the victims or their families, and left in 16 minutes.

But while he was there, Pastor David Platt made the decision to pray for president Trump, and now he is evidently feeling some remorse for that which has led him to apologize to his congregation.

The pastor attempted to explain that he understood Trump’s policies and overall rhetoric have hurt many members of his congregation, but that he tries to love and honor all people.

“Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that we didn’t see coming, and we’re faced with a decision in a moment when we don’t have the liberty of deliberation, so we do our best to glorify God,” Platt said in his statement to his church. “Today, I found myself in one of those situations.”

He was sure to point out that he was completely unaware of the president’s visit prior to him simply showing up, and he acted in the best way that he knew how.

“At the end of my sermon at the 1:00 worship gathering, I stepped to the side for what I thought would be a couple of moments in quiet reflection as we prepared to take the Lord’s Supper. But I was immediately called backstage and told that the President of the United States was on his way to the church, would be there in a matter of minutes, and would like for us to pray for him,” he said.

“This weighs heavy on my heart,” the pastor continued. “I love every member of this church, and I only want to lead us with God’s Word in a way that transcends political party and position, heals the hurts of racial division and injustice, and honors every man and woman made in the image of God.”

While we appreciate that he acted in the best way he knew how perhaps next time he should consider calling Donald Trump out on just how ungodly he is.
