Special Counsel Robert Mueller has just made a major move in the Russia investigation. He’s just requested an interview with Emin Agalarov, the Russian pop star who helped set up the 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and the Russians.
Agalarov’s lawyer, Scott Balber, said, “Conversations are ongoing. Unclear how this will play out.” Mueller may also be interested in speaking with Agalarov’s father, billionaire Aras Agalarov, who has ties to Vladimir Putin — however, Balber would not comment on this.

The Agalorovs played a critical role in the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, Agalarov employee Irakly Kaveladze, and Kremlin lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The meeting was set up because Veselnitskaya had “information that would incriminate” Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Trump’s son wanted to get his hands on it.
Veselnitskaya has stated that the younger Agalarov, Emin, played a critical role in setting up the meeting. In late June, he also released a video that seemed to mock Mueller’s investigation. In a recent interview with “VICE News Tonight” Agalarov talked about how he’d spoken with Trump Jr. before the 2016 meeting. He said:
I said, ‘Listen there’s some people that want to meet you. They obviously want something that could potentially help them resolve things that you could be interested in or maybe not. If you can spare a few minutes of your time, I’d be grateful. If not, no problem.’
Obviously Don Jr. said: ‘Of course. I’ll do it if you’re asking,’”
Emin Agalarov is one person that Trump and his son probably don’t want Mueller to talk to — but it’s happening. Trump and Junior are screwed if Emin opens up.
