Melania Racked Up A Huge Mysterious Hotel Bill Costing Tax Payers Tons Of Money

What the heck could have cost this much money?

Have you ever gotten your paycheck, and about 3 days later, wondered just exactly what happened to it? Of course you have — we end up at the grocery store, and we pay the rent, and the cell phone bill takes the next bit, and pretty soon it’s gone. It’s not like you don’t have anything to show for it, though: You have your home, the kids are fed, and you’re still reading this on your device.

But I’ll bet you have never once spent a hundred thousand dollars without realizing it.

That’s exactly what reporters at Vanity Fair uncovered, however, when they looked into Melania Trump’s recent trip to Africa — ostensibly to spread goodwill, but in reality more of an ongoing, colonialist-style parade — and what it cost American taxpayers.

According to records from the State Department, Mrs. Trump racked up a bill for $95,050 while staying at the Intercontinental Semiramis hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

That’s pretty impressive, considering the fact that Melania’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told Quartz that the First Lady was in Cairo for a total of six hours and her visit in the historic city did not include a night’s stay in the hotel.

Nearly $100,000 for a hotel that Melania didn’t even sleep in? That seems just… Strange. Especially since the “Presidential Suite” at the Semiramis is only $699 per night — and that’s the most expensive room in the hotel.

What’s most ironic is that FLOTUS admonished the media for paying too much attention to what she was wearing on the trip — which included a pith helmet like the slave traders wore — and not enough attention to what she was doing in Africa.

Perhaps she should be careful what she’s trying to draw attention to, if she’s going to mysteriously cost the United States a hundred grand for a hotel room she didn’t use.
