Donald Trump loves nothing more than to harp on and on about free speech. But boy, does it have a catch, as Donald only likes free speech as long as that speech is saying something nice about him. If you happen to think like that majority of our country and feel that he’s a racist creep that belongs underneath a prison somewhere, the Trumpster suddenly believes that the first amendment to our constitution should no longer apply to you.
Gosh, if that doesn’t sound creepily reminiscent of another country that Donald is super fond of? Someone’s had too many playdates with Putin.
To give himself a safe space to whine about all his freedom of speech woes, Donald held a social media summit yesterday that, funnily enough, was chock full of right-wing conspiracy theorists and extremists but not a single representative from any legitimate social media platforms such as Twitter, Google, or Facebook.
During his address, Trump told attempted to define free speech to the crowd by saying that free speech isn’t really free speech if it’s something that he doesn’t like, doesn’t agree with, or something that makes him “angry” — legitimate facts be damned.
“So to me, free speech is not when you see something good and then you purposely write bad, to me that’s very dangerous speech, and you become angry at it,” Trump told the crowd of right-wing nuts. “But that’s not free speech.”
And, of course, Donald certainly didn’t miss the opportunity to attack the media.
“I don’t think that the mainstream media is free speech either, because it’s so crooked, it’s so dishonest,” he stated before he took to launching thinly-veiled threats.
“We’re just not going to allow it to happen like this. We’re not going to be silenced.”
We’ve got news for you, Trump. That’s not how the Constitution works.
You can watch the clip here:
“…free speech is not when you see something good and then you purposely write something bad … that’s very dangerous speech.”
That’s actually the definition of free speech.
