Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) used to be one of rare voices of “reason” in the GOP, but something has recently happened to him since he’s gotten closer to president Donald Trump. It seems as though ever since Graham began playing golf with The Donald and spending more time with him, all tiny traces of morality and intelligence have left him. Unfortunately, things have only progressed and Graham has recently abandoned his conscience to side with and defend Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Yesterday during the Kavanaugh hearing, Graham lit up and issued an unhinged statement about Trump’s nominee. Yelling at both Democrats and his GOP colleagues, Graham shouted:
What you want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open, and hope you win in 2020. If you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn’t have done what you did to this guy. Boy, you guys want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham. That you knew about it and you held it.”
To my Republican colleagues, if you vote no, you’re legitimizing the most despicable thing I’ve seen in politics. I hope you’re on the Supreme Court. That’s exactly where you should be.”
And today, Graham reiterated his support for Kavanaugh — by changing his Twitter profile picture to a photograph of him standing with Kavanaugh.

Graham is following in Trump’s footsteps now, coming completely unraveled and hot-headed. His defense of Kavanaugh is disgusting and should be condemned, and his latest show of support for Trump’s nominee proves that he is ignoring the backlash and refusing to back down.
