Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) may have sounded like he was supportive of transparency when it was announced that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had handed off his report to Attorney General William Barr, but he’s changed his tune and is now doing his best to help his BFF Donald Trump create distractions for America.
During a fundraising dinner at Trump’s Florida Mar-a-Lago resort last night, Graham (much to Trump’s delight) called for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to be investigated. As expected, Trump and his supporters were more than happy about this.
Graham, who was the keynote speaker, had been scheduled to speak at this event before Mueller submitted his support to Barr, and it was, of course, a calculated move by Trump. CNN reported that Trump had told a separate crowd:
If Lindsey’s speaking, I want to come down here for two reasons. No. 1: he’s a great speaker. And No. 2, I know if I’m here, he’s not going to say anything bad about me.”
Clearly, Trump knows he needs someone to make him look less awful right now. And as usual, Graham delivered for his buddy. Graham called for an investigation into Clinton again and riled the crowd up so much that they started chanting “lock her up.” CNN’s Kevin Liptak reported:
A ‘lock her up’ chant broke out at Mar-a-Lago tonight during Sen. Graham’s speech as he called for an investigation into Clinton and the origins of the dossier. Trump watched on from a table in the ballroom.”

Here’s a video of Trump speaking at the event as well:

Whenever Trump as something to worry about, it’s been common practice for the president to create distractions and chaos to take eyes off of himself. Now, it seems as if he’s getting his buddies like Graham to help him out.
