While Donald Trump used to brag about how he had superior judgment and only hired the “best” people, his entire presidency has proven quite the opposite. Not only has the Trump administration suffered many humiliating losses and scandals due to its flawed members, but the president is still being made to look like a guilty moron by White House officials that are supposed to be defending him.
A perfect example of this happened today on Fox Business News when White House counselor Kellyanne Conway gave a disastrous interview that ended up making Trump look even worse than before. During the interview, Conway was asked about a BuzzFeed report that stated Trump had told his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about his plans to put a Trump Tower in Moscow.
This time, it’s not what she said that shocked viewers — it’s what she didn’t say. Conway didn’t even bother denying it! Instead, Conway refused to answer interviewer Charles Payne and said this:
[Fox News reporter] Kevin Corke was characterizing Michael Cohen’s past testimony and also talking about some problems that he’s had testifying under oath. I’m going to leave it at that because I come here every day to work on policy.”
And of course, like many people who work on Fox News, Payne just let this slide and didn’t challenge Conway for not denying it. He pretty much allowed Conway to slip right by as he said:
We know he has lied under oath in the past and Michael Cohen is headed toward prison. By the way, Democrats are demanding an investigation. We’ve got so many of them, I think you would agree it will be great once Mueller’s investigation is wrapped up.”
