After president Donald Trump and his administration raised hell over Hillary Clinton’s emails, it’s been interesting to see Trump’s inner circle get caught in their own digital messes. The latest email slip up involves Trump’s White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly, who has just gotten caught calling Senator Elizabeth Warren “arrogant” in an email.
According to BuzzFeed News, Kelly insulted Warren (who is likely going to be the frontrunner for the Democrats) in an email exchange from February of last year. In speaking to Kevin Carroll, his top aide at Homeland Security, the two men were caught making insulting comments about Warren, which resulted in humiliation for Trump’s administration.
The email was sent after Kelly and Warren had had a phone conversation about Trump’s travel ban, which the president was trying to impose on Muslim-majority countries. Warren had appropriately called the move “illegal”, and Kelly was obviously too racist to agree. Kelly wrote to Carroll:
Absolutely most insulting conversation I have ever had with anyone. What an impolite arrogant woman. She immediately began insulting our people accusing them of not following the court order, insulting and abusive behavior towards those covered by the pause, blah blah blah.”
Like most of Trump’s friends and acquaintances, Carroll showed some real misogyny when he responded with “too bad Senate Majority Leader McConnell couldn’t order her to be quiet again!” He also wrote:
Warren is running for president so early. Trying too hard, and chasing bad pitches.”
This is so extremely unprofessional for Kelly to engage in an email like this. And there’s likely more where that came from — this email was just one of the thousands that were received thanks to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that was filed by BuzzFeed. Trump and his administration had better be prepared for a fight, because Warren has never been one to back down.
