Iran Says U.S. Shot Down Their Own Drone By Mistake, Calls Trump’s Claim “Delusional And Groundless”

That sounds about like him.

Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has downed an Iranian drone over the Strait of Hormuz that was supposedly threatening a US naval vessel. As it turns out, these claims by the president are most likely, and extremely unsurprisingly, just another one of his ploys to garner attention and make himself look and feel like a badass — because Iranian officials are calling complete bullshit.

Iran stated today that Donald’s claims of the US downing a threatening Iranian drone are “delusional” and they believe that, if a drone was in fact downed as Trump says, it was a US drone, not one of theirs.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi took to Twitter today with the statement:

“We have not lost any drone in the Strait of Hormuz nor anywhere else. I am worried that USS Boxer has shot down their own [unmanned aircraft system] by mistake!”

Araghchi’s dispute of Trump’s claims comes on the heels of remarks made at the White House by POTUS in which he stated that the US Navy “immediately destroyed” an unmanned Iranian drone after it flew within 1,000 feet of an American warship. CNN has reported that the drone was allegedly disabled by “electronic jamming.”

With absolutely no evidence to back up his claims, Trump stated at the White House:

This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels operating in international waters. The United States reserves the right to defend our personnel, facilities, and interests, and calls upon all nations to condemn Iran’s attempts to disrupt freedom of navigation and global commerce.”

Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif, who is currently in New York, also disputed Trump’s unverifiable claims stating, “We have no information about losing a drone.”

Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, the Iranian Armed Forces Spokesman, said Donald’s claims were completely false. Hossein Naghavi Hosseini, from the Iranian parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy, stated that Trump’s claim is an effort to “create tensions and psychological warfare in the region and in Iran, and hide its failures,” adding, “Trump’s claim is not endorsed by anyone because it is not true.”

Since then, Iran has released video footage of the drone in question saying, “the drone had captured the footage and timing notations showed the drone was still filming after Washington said it had been downed.”

Long story short, Donald Trump is a big, fat liar. Again.

You can watch the hour-plus of footage that Iran live-streamed after Trump’s nonsense from the drone POTUS claimed was shot down:
