Over the last few months, we’ve been witnessing the president break down in real time as his investigations and scandals close in on him. Donald Trump’s own unhinged behavior tells us that the last several weeks have been particularly difficult, as Trump has been betrayed by many in his own inner circle. The president has been buckling under the pressure, and we’ve all been waiting to see when the president’s ticking time bomb of a temper would finally reach its limit. It looks like that day was yesterday.
While Trump kicked off Labor Day by celebrating his presidency and bragging about how American workers are benefiting from him, the day ended early for Trump as the president was in much different spirits just hours later. Trump stunned America when he abruptly canceled his golfing plans at the last minute, despite being dressed for the game and having the Secret Service and press pool already prepped for the trip and waiting for him.
Without any further explanation, the president suddenly went back into the White House for the rest of the day while the press pool was told to go home. All they were told was that Trump was canceling his plans so he could “make phone calls.” This raised eyebrows, as people wondered what was really going on.
Strangest pool duty ever: We sat in motorcade for about an hour. Secret Service loaded up. POTUS came out for 2 mins. Then he went back inside. No word on why. Then press corps sent home.

This morning, New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman went on CNN to discuss the president’s “strange” behavior. She said:
Maybe he had the wrong shoes. It’s very strange for him to do what he did. It’s strange for them to pack everyone in cars and then get out of them and call the whole thing off and say ‘we’re done for the day.’ The speculation is anything from some kind of military significance to anything related to the Mueller case. I can’t imagine anything related to the Mueller case on Labor Day.”
Haberman stated that it was a true sign that Trump’s investigations on top of the backlash he got for his disrespect of late Senator John McCain were finally catching up with him:
What I think was clear from his tweeting and what I have heard from people around the White House is he is rather unhappy these days. You had one week of Michael Cohen guilty plea and Paul Manafort verdict followed by a week of tributes to John McCain that we know got under the president’s skin and John McCain designed his own funeral service as the final word with this president and that got to him.”
Yes, Trump is actually depressed that America hates him. Depressed enough to cancel his golf games. Haberman confirmed:
If this president needed proof that the world is conspiring against him, which he looks for, this was it.”
