Today, Donald Trump turned America’s politics into a reality television show that we all wish we could cancel. Trump had brought his experience as being a reality TV star into the White House from the second he walked into it, but today he took it to a completely different level.
Trump announced sanctions on Iran from his Twitter account earlier today, but that wasn’t even the most disturbing part about it. It was the way he did it — Trump forced his team to make him into a Game of Thrones meme, sinking our country into an entirely new level of despair.
Obviously inspired by the final Game of Thrones season making headlines after a big Entertainment Weekly preview, Trump did this:

There have been many moments where we’ve all questioned reality, and this is one of the worst to date. People were seriously disgusted, all throughout the country. This sums up many of the reactions to Trump’s tweet:
The most powerful nation on Earth is now reduced to conducting nation state deterrence through internet memes. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so scary and pathetic. https://t.co/MyyVLfrDYD

It’s no coincidence that Trump is reimposing sanctions on Iran right before the midterm election — and we can all agree that this is extremely desperate of him. HBO has since reacted to Trump using Game of Thrones in his “marketing”, and it was brutal. In a statement, HBO responded:
We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes.”
And after that statement, came this tweet:
How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?

Meanwhile, everyone — including Game of Thrones actresses Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner (Arya and Sansa Stark) — are horrified:
