There isn’t much that Donald Trump has shown any interest or concern for during his presidency. As the laziest and most incompetent POTUS in the history of the United States, during his entire two years in the White House Trump has only been known to care about one thing – how he appears on television.
It’s been reported that Trump goes nuts over his ratings and television coverage, and has been known to make administration staff decisions based on how he believes they’ll appear on camera (he once reportedly was considering firing former Press Secretary Sean Spicer because Trump didn’t like how Spicer came across on camera). Considering how much The Donald cares about his ratings, the latest news is going to put him over the edge.
The early numbers are in after Trump gave his televised Oval Office address on immigration last night – and it doesn’t look good for Trump. The former reality television star will likely be happy he got a big audience (because Americans were practically forced to watch him on main news networks) – but will soon be enraged once he finds out that the response from Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer drew a bigger crowd.
Trump’s pathetic speech received a combined 28.1 household rating in metered markets on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, CNN, Fox News and NBC. The Pelosi-Schumer rebuttal to his speech drew an average rating of 29.3 across those same networks. Another metric that Trump won’t like hearing was the fact that of those major networks, Fox News came in last with the least viewers. Clearly, Trump’s fanbase must be shrinking thanks to his failing presidency and inability to come through on any of his campaign promises.
Trump is becoming less and less popular on television, and that’s the only thing that really bugs him nowadays. If only the president were this obsessed with doing his job.
