As Trump Gets Ready For Florida Rally, Orlando’s Largest Newspaper Releases 2020 Endorsement; POTUS Will Be Pissed

This is like a punch in the gut.

As President Trump tries his best to fire up the base for what promises to be a night of white supremacy, ignorance, and hate (aka a Trump rally) tonight in Orlando, Florida, he’s been busy tweeting about the “thousands” of people in line waiting for it to start — although many on hand have noted that there appeared to be around fifty people at the time Trump tweeted that — and about how the whole affair will be “wild,” like he’s some kind of rock star:

I guess the operative phrase there is Republican enthusiasm, because literally no one else is happy to see him. And as if to drive that very point home, today’s issue of the Orlando Sentinel, the largest newspaper in the city of more than a quarter million has issued a sort of reverse presidential endorsement. It’s the first time in the newspaper’s history that they’ve done anything like this — not coming out and saying who they DO endorse in the 2020 election, but rather who they do NOT endorse.

We’re here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020, or, at least, who we’re not endorsing: Donald Trump.

Some readers will wonder how we could possibly eliminate a candidate so far before an election, and before knowing the identity of his opponent.

Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump.

After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.”

The paper goes on to note some of the more egregious offenses by the President, including a pointed reference to the Washington Post‘s “Fact Checker,” which has now documented well over 10,000 verifiable lies the President has told since his inauguration.

In fact, the Sentinel even pointed out that it was just 7 years ago that they actually endorsed Republican Mitt Romney — so they’re not just out here flaunting their liberal bias.

We expect many, many of the nation’s newspapers to do the same over the next year.
