Donald Trump is absolutely freaking out now that his Russian investigation is exploding in his face and it looks like his son, Donald Trump Jr., is in big trouble. Judging by The Donald’s tweets alone, something big is definitely up.
The president had a major meltdown this morning, so he decided to end the weekend with a bang – and a ridiculous lie. Bragging that he had gotten good ratings yesterday, Trump tweeted that his approval rating was now higher than the approval rating of former President Barack Obama at this point in his presidency. Yes, he went there:
Presidential Approval numbers are very good – strong economy, military and just about everything else. Better numbers than Obama at this point, by far. We are winning on just about every front and for that reason there will not be a Blue Wave, but there might be a Red Wave!”

Not only is it extremely cringeworthy to know that Trump actually thinks that highly of himself, but it’s not even true. At all. Right after Trump tweeted this, many members of the media came forward to call Trump’s bluff – using real data to back it up. CNN’s Ryan Lizza was one of the first to fact check this nonsense:
Not true, of course, at least in terms of the approval numbers https://t.co/sxfizjCucz pic.twitter.com/Bi7FIER6JK

Toronto Star Washington correspondent Daniel Dale also jumped in:
This is a lie. Obama’s net approval number was more than 4 points better than Trump’s on this day in their presidencies, per RealClearPolitics polling averages – Obama was at negative-5.2, Trump is at negative-9.5. pic.twitter.com/BNV776v8Hy

CNN’s Brian Stelter even pointed out that just last night, Trump “claimed that polls are used for vote ‘suppression’ purposes.”
🤷♂️ Last night Trump sowed doubt about polls. He claimed that polls are used for vote “suppression” purposes. 🤷♂️ https://t.co/MpLUU889v9

For some reason, Trump hasn’t figured out that America doesn’t believe any of his bullsh*t. It’s almost like he enjoys making a fool of himself.
