Former FBI agent Peter Strzok, the target of innumerable tweets by President Trump for his supposed “bias” during the Hillary Clinton investigation, was just fired today, contrary to the recommendation of the investigative body looking into his case — they proposed a suspension, not a firing.
Donald Trump was quick to head to Twitter to cheer the turn of events, which he undoubtedly had a hand in, with a pair of tweets celebrating the firing:
Agent Peter Strzok was just fired from the FBI – finally. The list of bad players in the FBI & DOJ gets longer & longer. Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax. No Collusion, No Obstruction – I just fight back!

Given that he was fired from the agency, it seems exceedingly likely that former agent Strzok will need legal representation in case of any actions taken against him — or possibly to sue for wrongful termination. After all, Strzok responded by defending his own integrity in the situation:

Not to worry! A group calling themselves Friends of Special Agent Peter Strzok has started a GoFundMe fundraiser for his legal fees and lost wages, with a goal of $350,000. At the time of this writing, it had only been up for 11 hours and had already raised an astounding $140,000.
From the fundraising campaign:
[L]ast week, in a decision apparently driven by political pressure, a senior FBI official chose to fire Pete — overruling the agency’s normal and independent process by rejecting the decision of the career professionals in the FBI’s disciplinary division. This has left him without income and facing considerable legal bills … Following his repeated Congressional testimony and a lengthy investigation, one thing is clear: Pete’s personal views never once influenced his professional actions.”
Way to go, America! Just like when Democrats came together to save Andrew McCabe’s pension when he was unjustly fired after being targeted by this vindictive President, Agent Peter Strzok looks like he’s in good hands with people who truly care about justice and care about their fellow human beings.
