While Donald Trump’s relationship with his son-in-law Jared Kushner never seemed to be particularly outstanding, the president has just made a statement about his daughter’s husband that is going to change his family forever.
Trump always seemed to merely tolerate Kushner, giving him a place in the White House simply because Kushner was married to his favorite daughter, Ivanka. However the president’s true feelings about his son-in-law have just been publicly exposed, and we can only imagine that the damage is irreparable at this point.
The New York Times reported that Trump made a few shocking statements about how he “could have had Tom Brady” as a son-in-law, suggesting that he was quite underwhelmed by the man his daughter actually married and had children with. Trump said:
Instead, I got Jared Kushner.”
And it gets worse. Trump apparently told his aides that he regretted having Kushner in the White House when he said, “Jared hasn’t been so good for me.” Well, that’s what happens when you appoint people with zero experience.
Despite how Trump feels about Kushner, it seems that his son-in-law is still very involved and part of Trump’s inner circle — which is probably solely because of Ivanka. The Times reported:
And yet, after 18 months of bruising internal White House conflicts and bitter criticism that they have failed to be a moderating influence on the president, both Mr. Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, the president’s elder daughter, are still in Washington and still working as aides to Mr. Trump. They are as comfortable — and as close to the center of his orbit — as they have ever been.”
Trump’s statements about Kushner are certainly shocking and will shake up his family without a doubt. As Ivanka is the only family member that Trump actually cares about, he’ll likely regret saying these words once she finds out.
