The president’s lies are so numerous it’s impossible to keep track, and it’s been reported that he’s told over 10,000 of them since his inauguration. The frequency of these lies has only increased thanks to his many investigations and the fact that he needs to keep covering up what his corrupt administration is doing.
While America’s free press has been tirelessly fact-checking the president, Trump supporters have been shielded from the truth because their preferred network, Fox News, refused to address any of Trump’s lies and flaws. However, that era seems to have officially ended as Fox News has joined the ranks of networks calling the president out for his lies with some brutal live fact-checking.
Yesterday, Trump celebrated Mother’s Day the way he celebrates every holiday (and day) — by sending either himself or one of his minions to lie to the American people. Trump’s Director of the National Economic Council, Larry Kudlow, did an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace — and let’s just say that it wasn’t the easy interview Kudlow hoped it would be.
During the interview, Kudlow tried to keep up Trump’s recent lies about how the tariffs he was threatening to impose on China would be paid because it was better for the country than actual trade. Wallace was not having it. Wallace fact-checked him on the spot, leading to a humiliating interview:
It’s not China that pays tariffs. It’s the American importers, the American companies that pay what is, in effect, a tax increase, and oftentimes passes it on to U.S. consumers.”
Kudlow began to crumble immediately and admitted, “Fair enough. In fact, both sides will pay. Both sides will pay in these things.”
Wallace kept on him and said, “But the tariffs on goods coming into the country, the Chinese aren’t paying.”
Kudlow tried to recover and mention that the Chinese “will suffer GDP losses and so forth” but Wallace reminded him of the lies Trump was spewing. Wallace said:
But the President says that China pays the tariffs. They may suffer consequences, but it’s U.S. businesses and U.S. consumers who pay, correct?”
Then Kudlow gave Trump up. Blowing up Trump’s lie when the president said “Tariffs will make our Country MUCH STRONGER, not weaker,” Kudlow said the exact opposite on national television. Kudlow surrendered with this response:
Yes, to some extent. I don’t disagree with that. Again, both sides will suffer on this.”
That was Trump’s chief economic advisor admitting that Trump is going to hurt the U.S. — loud and clear on Fox News so that all of the president’s supporters could hear. Considering this happened on the only network that was actually nice to Trump makes the sting even greater. You can watch this wonderful moment below:
