Donald Trump knows he’s pretty much ruined the Republican Party’s chances for any success in the midterm elections so now he’s relying on the most disgusting, desperate and fear-mongering techniques to get Americans to vote GOP.
Trump has caused more lifelong Republicans to abandon their party than anyone, but the president probably thinks he can get back some voters by dialing up the fear. Earlier today at a White House jobs event, Trump made a vile attempt to make the GOP seem just a little less awful – and as usual, he had to lie to make it happen. Speaking to a group of business executives, Trump warned they would “lose a lot of money” if Republicans didn’t dominate the midterms. He said:
We have an economy that’s the hottest economy right now in the world and I guess the stock market is up to––getting close to 50%, if you think about it, that’s incredible, since the election. In fact, I hear today, it’s doing well, Larry, it’s up another 400 points. It was up another 450 points or so yesterday. It is just doing well. I will say this, they’re waiting for the results of the midterms. And if the midterms for some reason don’t do so well for Republicans, I think you’re all going to lose a lot of money. I hate to say that. I think you’re going to lose a lot of money.”

This is so revolting, and sadly some Republicans who are on the fence will actually believe his lies. This follows Trump’s fear-mongering tweet from yesterday, where the president tweeted, ” “If you want your Stocks to go down, I strongly suggest voting Democrat.”

Trump is pulling at straws, but he still might be able to recruit some of the more gullible Republican voters. That’s why it’s important that Democrats don’t become overly confident – make sure you get out and vote.
