The entire GOP is freaking out about this, especially so close to midterm elections!

What Donald Trump just did on Twitter was the last thing Republicans wanted him to do just months before midterm elections.

Billionaire GOP donors the Koch Brothers have decided that they are not going to support Trump’s trade policy or several Trump-aligned Republican candidates in the midterm elections. In reaction to hearing this news (likely from the Fox News segment Laura Ingraham did last night), Trump flew off the handle and attacked the mega donors.

In a few blistering tweets, Trump slammed Charles and David Koch as “globalists”, said they were a “total joke” and claimed he has “beaten them at every turn.” Trump wrote:

The globalist Koch Brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade. I never sought their support because I don’t need their money or bad ideas. They love my Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judicial picks & more. I made them richer. Their network is highly overrated, I have beaten them at every turn. They want to protect their companies outside the U.S. from being taxed, I’m for America First & the American Worker – a puppet for no one. Two nice guys with bad ideas. Make America Great Again!”

As you can imagine, Republicans will be scrambling to clean up this mess ASAP. The GOP is already terrified of what the midterms will bring now that Trump has ruined the party. Having their president attack huge Republican donors is only going to make the odds even worse for them. Trump could not have chosen to do this at a worse time — but by now the GOP should automatically expect that behavior from him.
