While Trump Is Occupied With His Imaginary Border Crisis, Nancy Pelosi Made Major Move To Sue Him

Nancy has done it again!

Nancy Pelosi has just done what she does best — saved our collective behinds from Trump’s immaturity and tantrums. While Trump was distracted with his own self, ranting and raving about a “border crisis” in California, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi took full advantage of the opportunity to sue the f*ck out of him —  blocking the transfer of money to pay for the very wall that he’s promoting.

Pelosi released a statement saying:

[…]the House is taking action once more to uphold the Constitution from the President’s brazen assault and to defend our Democracy.

The President’s decision to contravene the will of the bipartisan, bicameral Congress after being denied the funds he demanded for his sham emergency stands in stark, unequivocal violation of the Constitution’s Appropriations Clause. The Constitution’s express statement of Congress’s ‘exclusive power over the federal purse,’ according to the courts, is both ‘a bulwark of the Constitution’s separation of powers among the three branches of the National Government,’ and ‘particularly important as a restraint on Executive Branch officers.’ As the complaint notes, ‘Even the monarchs of England long ago lost the power to raise and spend money without the approval of Parliament.

The Congress has a solemn responsibility to defend its exclusive constitutional responsibilities, and protect our system of checks and balances. The very integrity of our democratic institutions are at stake. We will not let the President trample over the Constitution.”

Pelosi has made it crystal clear that she intends to uphold our nation’s constitution, whether Donald Trump likes it or not. Both the constitution and the courts state that no POTUS has the ability, the discretion, or the power to direct funds already appropriated by Congress to a different program. Trump’s “national emergency” is not a national emergency at all. It’s a whiny, power trip-fueled tantrum to get what he wants, and Trump has admitted as much himself — clearly stating on more than one occasion that the only reason the national emergency was declared to start with was that Congress wouldn’t give him the money he wanted.

The nation is certainly in crisis, but it has nothing to with immigration and everything to do with our sorry excuse for a president. Trump may have the authority to declare a bogus emergency, but he doesn’t have the power to spend any money — and Nancy intends to keep it that way.
