Trump Just Revealed His Greatest Regret From His First Term; It’s Completely Ridiculous

This ain't it, big guy.

Imagine, if you will, a world in which Donald Trump is capable of feeling remorse, guilt, or regret about anything he’s done. Real regret, not regret because something didn’t work the way he wanted it to. In such a world, Trump might eventually come to be humbled by the terror he’s inflicting on children at the border, or to seek penance for the numerous women he’s assaulted, or to ask forgiveness for the racial hatred he’s actively sown since long before he was ever President of the United States.

That world doesn’t exist, though, no matter how much we wish it did. Instead, we have interviews like this morning’s Meet The Press with Chuck Todd, which featured the host asking Trump a series of softball questions with essentially no follow-up, and allowed Trump to sound like a job applicant telling a prospective employer his biggest weakness is that he “works too hard.”

Instead of asking about his biggest weakness, though, Chuck asked Trump what the biggest regret so far of his presidency has been. And even if he didn’t fess up to torturing brown kids or siding with Nazis, he certainly could have come up with something a little better than wishing he hadn’t hired Jeff Sessions.

Seriously, that’s it. That’s the one thing he wishes he’d done differently. Just the part where he accidentally hired a guy who was already compromised by the very thing that would plague Trump himself for two years, because if he’d picked someone else, there potentially never would have been an investigation into his dealings, let alone a Robert Mueller-led special counsel investigation.

Watch here, as Trump recounts why Sessions was a terrible choice, and just how much better he believes William Barr is suited to the position of leading the Department of Justice:
