Yesterday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced something that will probably send president Donald Trump over the edge considering how much pressure the Tweeter in Chief is already under thanks to Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his recent disastrous presser with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Cuomo stated that there could be another investigation underway soon, as he is willing to authorize a criminal investigation into the Trump Foundation, which is already involved in a civil lawsuit by state prosecutors. Speaking for Cuomo, counsel to the governor Alphonso David said:

At Governor Cuomo’s direction, the state stands ready to provide the Attorney General with the appropriate criminal referral on this matter if and when she asks for it.”

The civil lawsuit, which was filed by Attorney General Barbara Underwood’s office in June, is going after the Trump Foundation and its directors for a pattern of unethical, illegal conduct connected to Trump’s presidential campaign. In filing the lawsuit, Underwood requested that the Internal Revenue Service and Federal Election Commission investigate any possible federal law violations. Amy Spitalnick, the spokesperson for the New York Attorney General, said:

As our lawsuit against the Trump Foundation illustrates, we intend to hold the Foundation and its directors accountable for all violations of state law. We continue to evaluate the evidence to determine what additional actions may be warranted, and will seek a criminal referral from the appropriate state agency as necessary. We’ve already referred apparent violations of federal law to the IRS and FEC.”

While the presence of the civil case may prevent any criminal action from being taken right away, this is not good news for Trump at all. The Trump Foundation has long been under speculation for its shady charitable practices, so it’s highly probable that an investigation will uncover a major offense. A criminal referral would just be the icing on the cake.
