Donald Trump has already stated that he thinks he should be TIME Magazine’s 2018 Person of The Year (and even once printed out fake magazines of himself on the cover). It’s a disgusting amount of self promotion, but fortunately it looks like this year the president is probably not going to have a chance.
TIME Magazine just released its shortlist of 2018 Person of the Year nominees, and while Trump managed to make the cut, there are SEVERAL of his rivals that have a very good chance of beating him for the honor — including the U.S.-Mexico border “Separated families” that Trump was responsible for.
This is a major “f*ck you” to the president, and it will be even better if these families are given the final honor of being 2018 Person of The Year. Considering how devastated America was by Trump’s zero-tolerance policy of separating children from their parents at the border, it’s entirely possible.
Time’s shortlist includes nominees such as Trump (who already won the honor in 2016), Russian President Vladimir Putin, slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and Meghan Markle. But it also includes MANY direct threats to Trump such as Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, March for Our Lives activists, and of course the “Separated Families.”

Considering that TIME’s 2017 Person of the Year was “The Silence Breakers,” referring to “the individuals who set off a national reckoning over the prevalence of sexual harassment,” we could be looking at another Trump burn this year as well.
Nothing rips Trump apart than when his enemies steal the spotlight away from him. The fact that these options even came up as nominees will have him in fits today — and we can only hope that Trump is beaten out of 2018 Person of the Year by a much more noble person or group of people.
