Puerto Rico Mayor Destroys Trump For Bragging About Death Toll “Success,” He’ll Never Forget This

This is exactly the takedown that Trump needed to have.

Donald Trump has had horrifically delayed responses to natural disasters during his presidency — in fact, many times he fails to even acknowledge that there is a crisis somewhere in the country and just continues playing golf, pretending to be too busy to even tweet about it.

One disaster that Trump really botched is what happened in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria, and the president’s failure to act came back to bite him when he spoke about Hurricane Florence today. His words reminded America of just how much he sucks as a president, angering many politicians and constituents alike.

One person who Trump really p*ssed off is San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has perviously criticized Trump over his pathetic response to Puerto Rico. Seeing Trump brag about his “unsung success” in Puerto Rico today really made her blood boil, and she wasted no time trashing him for it in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. She said:

I think the president’s statement is despicable. It just goes to the lack of understanding of reality that he has. If he thinks that the deaths of 3,000 people is a success, he really doesn’t know what this was all about.”

Cruz reminded America (and Trump, of course) that the “crisis isn’t over” in Puerto Rico, as up to 60,000 people may still be without adequate shelter, living without a roof over their home. To make matters worse, the suicide toll has also gone up significantly. Cruz slammed Trump:

I don’t know where the president gets the nerve to call this a success story. My heart goes out to the people of South Carolina and North Carolina if he thinks what he did in Puerto Rico is a success.”

Cruz also bashed Trump for managing to spin every crisis into something about his agenda. She said:

This was never about politics. You know Carly Simon’s song that says ‘you’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you’? President Trump is so vain, he thinks this humanitarian crisis was about him. It was not about him, it was about saving [lives].”

As we all witnessed Trump making a 9/11 remembrance day all about him today, no one could argue that Cruz isn’t right. You can watch her interview below:
